Save money and the environment by recycling and reusing containers. You can use old glass and plastic containers to store food or miscellaneous items in. If the container has food stuck in the bottom, fill it with warm water and add a drop of dish detergent. Drop in some dry beans or uncooked rice.
Shake and the stuck food will come off.
To remove odor from a container, fill it with hot water and add one tablespoon of baking soda.
Allow the container to sit over night. Rinse well and the container will be odor free and clean.
Reuse what you can to save our environment and to save our money. If we really try, there is another use to be found for everything that we consume. Before you throw something away, ask yourself what could it be reused for?
Get your children involved. They can reuse containers such as old cereal boxes to store magazines and homework in, old chip cans can become pencil holders, the plastic dividers in cookie packages can become desk drawer organizers. Let them experiment and be a part of the green movement.
